Nakatsu Gorge, nestled along a tributary of the Niyodo River is renowned for its “Niyodo Blue” (crystal-clear azure waters). While recent rains had swollen the waters during this visit, tempering their usual clarity, the gorge’s beauty remained undiminished.
Multiple cascades, including the majestic Uryu-no-Taki (Dragon Rain Waterfall), adorn the landscape. Well-maintained walking trails allow visitors to immerse themselves in nature’s tranquility while witnessing seasonal transformations.
Summer brings refreshing coolness, while autumn paints the scene in vibrant foliage, making this cherished spot captivating year-round.
Getting there: About 1 hour by car from Ino IC on Kochi Expressway. Parking available. Round trip to Ryuu-no-taki takes approximately 60 minutes on foot.
